The diagrams demonstrate the mathematical calculations that were done in order to determine the radius and grazing angles of the cone from the initial circle as well as the focal length. From this one can see the process of creating the cones. The diagram on the right, used to calculate the focal length, works off an x-ray that bounces off the farthest end of the mirror in order to make the calculations a little cleaner. The diagram used to determine the spot size of the focused rays that would be read by the CCD is shown below, along with the equation for the radius of the spot.
