accelerometers The search for an appropriate accelerometer started off slowly because we originally thought that we would need to operate our setup at 50 milliKelvin. We did a great deal of research in the first couple weeks and pondered how to implement solutions such as those recently used by the Mohanty Group at nearby Boston University. However, once we learned that our project was only required to function at 4 Kelvin, we located the Endevco 2272 accelerometer for use in temperature extremes. Soon after, we found that these are the same accelerometers that NASA uses and we were able to borrow a few from the people there. NASA provided three accelerometers and amplifiers as well as the necessary cable.
